11/05/15

Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - 11 May 2015 – Under the patronage of His Highness Prince Sultan Bin Bandar Al Faisal, President of the Saudi Arabian Motor Federation, the all- new 2015 Ford Mustang won PR Arabia’s "Sports Car of the Year 2015" award in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The ceremony was attended by leading officials and businessmen as well as by representatives of Al Jazirah Vehicles Agencies Co. - the importer-dealer of Ford and Lincoln in the Kingdom.

Roch Legault, Ford Motor Company’s Country manager for Saudi Arabia said: "We are pleased that the all-new Ford Mustang won this award which comes in as we mark the 51st anniversary of this iconic muscle car. This recognition confirms that Mustang’s new features and specifications were favorably received by customers in the Kingdom as we continue to develop the Mustang nameplate with a view to providing the highest levels of performance, quality and unique design".

Khaled Bin Shaker Al Sohafi, branch manager of Al Jazirah Vehicles Agencies Co. in Jeddah, who received the award on behalf of the company, said Al Jazirah showrooms are witnessing very positive feedback and great demand for the all-new 2015 Mustang. The new model’s unique capabilities and power have only added to the popularity that Mustang has enjoyed since arriving in the region.

He also referred to the “EcoBoost Challenge” events taking place in Jeddah since April 30 over three weeks where participants were thrilled by the performance of the Mustang’s new four cylinder EcoBoost engine.

The way Mustang looks, drives and sounds is key to the visceral experience that makes drivers want to get in the driver’s seat and hit the road. The Mustang is the first car to offer four- (325hp) , six- (304hp) and eight- (421hp)cylinder engines making it the most appealing sports car in its segment. Thirty years ago, Ford launched a four-cylinder Mustang; the all-new 2015 Mustang however offers an advanced 2.3L EcoBoost engine that provides the latest technologies.

Walid Karanouh, Executive President of PR Arabia, said: “There was a fierce competition for "The Sports Car of the Year” award this year. The Ford Mustang took 48% of the total votes, a high score which confirms its leading position in this sector. An independent committee oversaw the counting of votes and results, under the supervision of the National Committee for Car Dealers".

Now in its third year, the PR Arabia survey has witnessed 400% increase in participation, with more than 250,000 voting for the 2015 winners.
