Driving a full-sized SUV can be intimidating – but the Expedition is loaded with features and driver assist technologies that help keep you safe on the road, making life with your SUV even more enjoyable and convenient.

Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is designed to put you in command on the road with features like Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering Assist, Lane-Keeping system and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS).

Many of these features are constantly at work in the background, monitoring your vehicle and its surroundings and intervening only when necessary – but there may be times when you want to adjust settings or switch them off entirely. Here’s how you do it.

Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is designed to put you in command on the road with features like Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering Assist, Lane-Keeping system and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS).

Many of these features are constantly at work in the background, monitoring your vehicle and its surroundings and intervening only when necessary – but there may be times when you want to adjust settings or switch them off entirely. Here’s how you do it.

 

Adaptive Cruise Control With Stop And Go


Adaptive Cruise Control uses a forward-facing camera and a sensor that detects traffic slowing ahead and can bring the Expedition to a complete stop if necessary. Once the vehicle in front moves off, the Expedition will accelerate back up to the preset speed if the vehicle in front moves forward and will maintain a preset gap between it and the car in front.

The system is activated by pressing a button on the steering wheel (a vehicle icon with a clock and arrow) and the cruise speed can be adjusted using the cruise control speed buttons. The following distance is set by pressing the button with an icon of a car and two parallel lines.

Lane-Centering Assist


Lane-Centering helps the driver stay centered within the lane by scanning your vehicle’s position between the lines on the road ahead. It will alert you if you’re starting to edge out of your lane and, after you’ve drifted a few times, a coffee cup icon will appear, suggesting that you pull over and take a break from driving.

 

To Enable Or Disable Lane Centering


  1. Access the Vehicle drawer on the touchscreen
  2. Press Settings
  3. Press Driver Assistance
  4. Press Cruise Control
  5. Press Adaptive Cruise Control
  6. Press Lane Centering Assist

 

Lane-Keeping System


The Lane-Keeping System is a collection of features that work together to ensure you don’t drift out of your lane unintentionally. The collection includes Lane-Keeping Alert, Lane-Keeping Aid and Driver Alert System.

The Lane-Keeping System alerts the driver, based on the mode selected, when the vehicle starts to drift from the intended lane, and can provide steering assistance to help the driver bring the vehicle back into the traveling lane if needed.

To enable or disable Lane Keeping Mode


  1. Access the Vehicle drawer on the touchscreen
  2. Press Settings
  3. Press Driver Assistance
  4. Press Lane-Keeping System
  5. Press Lane-Keeping Mode
  6. Select a setting

 

BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) With Cross-Traffic Alert


Monitoring your blind spots can be tricky when you’re behind the wheel, which is where Ford’s BLIS with Cross Traffic Alert has your back. It detects vehicles that may have entered your blind spots by using sensors in both sides of your Expedition. The sensors monitor the space rearward of the exterior mirror to around four metres beyond the rear bumper, extending to 18m beyond the bumper when road speeds exceed 48km/h.

 

Lane-Centering Assist


Lane-Centering helps the driver stay centered within the lane by scanning your vehicle’s position between the lines on the road ahead. It will alert you if you’re starting to edge out of your lane and, after you’ve drifted a few times, a coffee cup icon will appear, suggesting that you pull over and take a break from driving.
