Lane-Keeping
System

Your Everest may be equipped with Ford’s Lane Keeping system1. This system is designed to help keep you from wandering out of your lane unintentionally.

It does this by using the front camera and sensors to monitor your vehicle’s position between the lines on the road. If it senses you are starting to edge out of your lane, it can send you an alert.

If you are drifting out of your lane repeatedly, you will see a coffee cup icon-letting you know it is time to take a break.

The lane keeping system includes lane centering which detects lane markings to help keep your vehicle centered in the lane and a road edge detection system which monitors the road 50 meters in front of the vehicle. Where a paved road becomes a gravel hard shoulder or verge, the system provides gentle steering support as required, to prevent the vehicle drifting off the road.

How it works

The lane keeping system uses a forward-looking camera mounted on the windshield to monitor vehicle movement within the lane of travel.

When the camera detects a drift out of the lane of travel, the lane keeping system alerts the driver by vibrating the steering wheel or aids the driver by providing a small steering input to move the vehicle back into the lane of travel.
