MANILA, Philippines, 8 June 2015 – Ford Philippines today announced May retail sales of 1,652 units, helping drive its year-to-date performance up 19 percent to 8,557 units.
Ford’s overall May sales were driven by continued strength in demand for the popular Ranger and EcoSport, and also saw the all-new Mustang deliver the best-ever monthly sales for the iconic nameplate in the Philippines.
“Customer response to our full lineup of global Ford vehicles remains strong across the country, with the wide appeal of the Ranger and EcoSport continuing to drive our overall performance,” said Kay Hart, managing director, Ford Philippines. “The all-new Mustang has also given customers another pretty compelling reason to visit our Ford showrooms.”
The class-defining Ranger pickup turned in its best month this year with May sales rising 40 percent year-over-year to 823 units. The May performance helped Ranger remain Ford’s best-selling nameplate in the Philippines with year-to-date sales increasing 33 percent to 3,572 units.
Strong demand continued for the EcoSport in May with sales rising 20 percent year-over-year to 542 units. The EcoSport compact SUV continues to attract customers with its unique blend of versatility, fuel efficiency and smart technologies that appeals to an active urban lifestyle.
In its first month of availability, the all-new Mustang achieved May retail sales of 52 units - the best month since Mustang was launched in the Philippines in 2012. The sixth-generation pony car sets new performance and dynamics benchmarks with world-class handling, more precise steering control and enhanced ride comfort.
“The all-new Mustang represents the very best of Ford, and its first month’s performance shows just how eagerly awaited its arrival was in the Philippines,” said Hart.
The sporty Fiesta contributed to the May performance with sales of 106 units, helping drive its year-to-date sales to 597 units. The high-performance 1.0LEcoBoost engine delivers the power and performance of a traditional 1.6L engine with fuel economy gains of up to 20 percent.
Ford is taking bookings for the all-new Everest, which the company expects will give another significant boost to its retails sales later this year. The seven-seat mid-size SUV stays true to its durable and versatile nature with its off-road and on-road capabilities, while also offering no compromises on refinement and comfort.
“Completely new, inside and out, we are more than confident that the all-new Everest will exceed customer expectations,” added Hart.
To support its fast-growing customer base, Ford is continuing with its nationwide dealership expansion this month with the official opening of Ford Sta. Rosa in Laguna, and plans to have a total of 40 dealer locations by the end of this year.
