Despite its size, your SYNC screen is pretty easy to navigate and is centered around three main buttons in the Status Bar at the top of the screen:

The Apps Launcher button.

The Settings button.

Pressing the App Launcher button offers quick access to your apps, including Radio, Phone, Navigation, Media, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Charge Settings, Public Charging, Tire Pressure Monitoring system, Trips menu and Owner’s Manual. Once you select one of these apps it will activate and become the dominant item filling the main portion of the touch screen.

Press on this to access vehicle Settings for a huge range of safety, driver assist and other vehicle features. It’s where you can adjust settings and options for the Mach-E’s Controls, Sound, Phone List, Vehicle settings, General settings, Connectivity, Software Updates, Ford Assistant and Valet Mode.

This gives you access to the Mach-E’s front, rear and 360-degree camera features when required.

Climate Controls

At the bottom of the SYNC touch screen is the Mach-E’s climate control bar. Here you’ll find digital touch buttons for the dual zone climate control, heated seats and steering wheel, front and rear screen demisters and air flow speed and direction.

Digital Owner’s Manual

Incorporated into SYNC touchscreen is a digital copy of the owner’s manual. Select this App and you’re offered a search bar to search for something specific, the option of accessing the manual via Categories, a Visual Search, or you can access previously saved pages via the Bookmarks function. You can also change the language of the manual.

Decluttering the Cabin

Because SYNC offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity you can leave the cords at home and connect your smartphone to the SYNC®4A touch screen without wires. There’s also a wireless charging pad for smartphones and two USB outlets (USB-A and USB-C) so that you can connect your smartphone to SYNC®4A, and keep it charged, using a wired connection if you like.

Because SYNC offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity you can leave the cords at home and connect your smartphone to the SYNC®4A touch screen without wires. There’s also a wireless charging pad for smartphones and two USB outlets (USB-A and USB-C) so that you can connect your smartphone to SYNC®4A, and keep it charged, using a wired connection if you like.

Native Navigation

While you can still use mapping apps like Google Maps from a connected smartphone, the Mach-E also offers native navigation which can be accessed by pressing the Apps Launcher button, and then pressing Navigation.
From here you can do almost anything, like change the map format (2D or 3D, etc), pinch to zoom in or out (place two fingers on the screen and move them together to zoom in. Place two fingers on the screen and move them apart to zoom out).

To set a new destination using the text entry screen:

  1. Tap the “Where to” search bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Enter your destination using the keyboard.
  3. Select a destination from the list.
  4. Press the green Go! button to begin navigation.


To set a destination using a recent destination

  1. Tap the “Where to” search bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Press Recents.
  3. Select a destination from the list.
  4. Press the green Go! button to begin navigation.


To set a destination using a saved destination:

  1. Tap the “Where to” search bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Press Favorites.
  3. Select a saved destination.
  4. Press the green Go! button to begin navigation.


Note: Press the star icon when viewing location details to save the location.

  1. Press on a point of interest icon on the map. Information about the location of the point of interest appears on the screen.
  2. Press the Go! button to begin navigation to the point of interest.
